Rebecca Echevarria (any pronouns) is a farmer, food preserver and artist living in the Hudson Valley. She is grateful for her whole team at Sky High and feels like it has been such a gift to connect with one another and learn how to care for the land while supporting food access in local communities. She is earning her Master Food Preserver certificate through the Cornell Cooperative Extension and a student in the Gramounce Alternative M.A. in Food and Art. For the next two months, she will be conducting research on how to build an art practice focused on food preservation. She is passionate about how food preservation can build community and started a series of gatherings focused on this called Meant to Ferment with the critical help of other Sky High Fellows and all the community members who come and engage. She has worked in a variety of fields and made her own degree in Environmental Sustainability and Social Justice with an emphasis on Sustainable Agriculture. She is happy to be back in the agricultural and food space and looks forward to continue learning and connecting in the future.
