LEXIE SMITH, Program Manager
Lexie is a baker and a maker from New York. Her work with Sky High emerged after years in restaurant kitchens led her to an avid study of regional agricultural systems, and a fascination with the inner-workings (and rampant injustices) of the food system as a whole. She saw education and integration as the means by which to have real impact, and after some time developing workshops and events on her own and with numerous art and food-centric organizations, she joined the team at Sky High to lead their programming and communications strategy.
Outside of her role at SHF, Lexie uses bread as a vehicle for eternal inquiry and houses her explorations under the heading Bread on Earth, an art and research project she founded in 2016. Her writing, mostly on bread and grain, has been printed in publications around the world.
