DAN COLEN, Founder and President of the Board of Directors
Daniel Colen is an internationally recognized artist whose work has been exhibited at institutional venues that include The Whitney Museum, The Royal Academy in London, the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Oslo, Inverleith House in Edinburgh, the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, PS1 Contemporary Art Center and the New Museum in New York City. In 2011, Colen moved to Ancramdale, NY in Columbia County. Soon after, he began building Sky High Farm by setting out to rejuvenate a forgotten plot of land, developing both the vegetable production and animal husbandry functions of the farm, with the mission to donate all meat and produce to food banks. In addition to Sky High, Colen has contributed fund-raising efforts to Henry Street Settlement, whose programming and social services have made a huge impact on Manhattan's Lower East Side, and to RX Art whose programming brings art into children’s hospitals. Among other RX Art projects Colen designed a site specific permanent art installation for the activity room at St. Mary's Hospital for Children. Colen holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Art and Design.
